Hawaii - December 2015

In December of 2015, I took off to go to what I like to call as my favorite vacation spot. I left at the beginning of December with a few friends to Honolulu Hawaii. When I go to Hawaii, I always enjoy staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village by Hilton.

I have found that visiting Hawaii in December is a great time to visit. The weather is great, the water is warm, and the atmosphere is relaxing. While in Honolulu, there are many things to do. Events can range from visiting Pearl Harbor, going to North Shore, a Luau, site seeing, and many more tourist attractions.

During this trip to Honolulu, we took the time to go up to North Shore for a surfing competition. While there, I took a some time to take a few pictures as I tried to avoid the surf. The waves that day were huge!!! While I was taking pictures, I got focused on getting a good shot, that I did not notice a large wave coming. As the wave crashed against the shore line, I felt the remnants of the wave, as I was hit with waist deep water on the beach. So, word of advice when taking pictures at the beach.... Keep an eye on the waves!

To get an idea of the size of the waves at North Shore. Back in 2010, I was there on another vacation. The Vans Triple Crown was in town and so I thought it would be a great time to test out my video camera. Here is a clip of one of the surfers and the size of the waves.

My trip to Hawaii wrapped up with a fireworks show that the hotel puts on every Friday night. This is a great 5 minute show right on the beach of Waikiki. After the show, I packed up and returned back home that weekend. I won't go into the dreaded travel delays of that trip returning home. It was not a great way to end the trip, but I had a great time there with my friends, and taking pictures.
